Craftmad May Card Swap - Handmade Flowers

This month over at Craftmad (Pinterest Album here) we are swapping two cards with Handmade Flowers.  I took my inspiration from the card I made on our NZ cruise.  I just love the way that vellum looked when used as a backer for a die cut and cut into flower shapes and layered up. I don't have the ornate dies that were used in the card that inspired be so I only layered one panel with vellum the others I added embossed white card stock.  The die I used was

Nestabilities Majestic Elements Marvelous Squares Die.

My second card I saw some torn papers flowers and really like the effect.  So dragged out random scraps of paper and using water and paint brush drew circles on the papers then tore them out.  Layered them up and added a button to centre of each.  I found this perfect piece of flower patterned paper in my stash also.

Thanks for dropping on by.

Craftmad May Sketch Challenge

I'm having fun catching up on all the sketches over at Craftmad. I found this year tear bear image in my stash. I made these many years ago and a friend copied them and sold sheets of the innate in her craft shop. So it was from the colour of the bear that the papers were chosen.

A couple of links to cards I made with my Tear Bears years ago…… 7 years….wow…doesn't feel that long.

Tear Bear in a box with instructions….I had much more time 7 years ago. :-)

Mother's Day

At the beginning of the year one of our Craftmad members sent to everyone her unfinished cards. (Pinterest album here for Finish a Card challenge) This is one I received, so made it up into a card for my mother in law.

The end result.  I found the lovely daisy patterned paper for the background.  Again put vellum behind the die cut and then layered that on purple card stock which I hand cut to shape.  I punched out plain vellum flowers and then coloured wiht copic pens to match the papers.  I am really happy with the end result and it was fun working with something that some else started and getting a good result.  I was on such a high that I tried the next unfinished card I was given but it was a lost cause.  The more I added to it the worse it got so it's in the bin with no photos taken.  Not all cards can be rescued. :-)

I used this Craftmad February sketch for my Mum's Mother's Day card. I also thought  this a good opportunity to try a pop up diorama card, tutorial here.

The inside of the pop up diorama card.  This card lays flat when closed, so great for mailing.

Craftmad March Sketch Challenge

The other day I saw a card Linby had made using yellow and grey. I really liked the combo so thought why not for this sketch - Craftmad March Sketch Challenge.  Yellow is not a colour I dig out often but I was keen to start on this card.

Found some yellow patterned paper that worked together. Dug out my circle and flower  dies. I'm really happy with the end result and happy to have found a way to use yellow. 😀

April Craftmad Card Swap - Acetate

Our April Swap at Craftmad was all about acetate.  Visit our Pinterest Album to see what everyone else came up with.

I decided to make a magic slider card, it's been years since I have made one.  Now I remember why, although I enjoy the whole making and creating, I just don't feel the card is quite finished and wasn't sure what else I could do.  Anyways, it was fun.  I stamped the pink card with Stampin Up - Creative Elements flourish.  The flower image is also from the same set.  I followed this tutorial over at Splitcoast Stampers.  I added the little flower and sentiment to the bottom corner as I thought it was too plain without it.  For some reason I used a pice of scrap white paper which had the gold spritz on it from the inner tag.  I think card stock would have looked better.

This is the slider as it's being pulled out.  Sadly I was over zealous when deleting unwanted photos and do not have a photo of the entire image and sentiment. Grrrrr.   So the pull out tag, I coloured the image with my copics, spritz with gold, stamped a sentiment from the Creative Elements set which I stamped on an angle….grrr again. :-)  Added a butterfly in the hope that everyone's eye is drawn to that and don't notice the slant of the sentiment.  I will ask my swap partner for a photo when she receives it then update my post.

I found a card on Pinterest which I had to try - original card at Mel's Card Corner.
A fun card to put together and I love the end result.  I have the same patterned paper on the inside to cover up the tape which is holding the card stock in place on the acetate.  Actually, I used overhead projector sheets which I claimed from the local school as they were going to toss a box full as overhead projectors are a thing of the past.

Wishing you a fantastic day full of smiles.
