Happy Day - Washi Candles

I am now up to date, this is my final card to share with you from 2015.  :-)
A quick and easy birthday card made with a variety of my washi tapes.  The flame shape I cut from foam to create a stamp then used to shades of yellow/orange ink to stamp the flame.

Hope your day is a good one…..or a happy one. :-)

Tea Tree Cottage Daintree

We have just spent the ANZAC long weekend up at Tea Tree Cottage Daintree……not really a cottage but more a tree house.   We arrived up there late Friday afternoon.  This was the first holiday we have ever taken our dog with us, a nice change.  Although the older that he gets the more anxious he is in the car.  He has never been sick but these days is on the back seat and tends to watch the floor like he can see the road.  But we all made the trip and he enjoyed his break away with us.   This is the view I had on my first night while washing up the dishes after a BBQ meal cooked by my husband.

Saturday morning we were greeted with this view while drinking our first coffee of the day.

Looking back towards the BBQ and to the right is the kitchen window I was looking at the moon the night before.

From my seat on the verandah I could see through the dining area to our bedroom as you can see the house is made of trees…..everything is wood and so beautiful.

It was a very relaxing weekend.  I managed some colouring, read and entire James Patterson book….this is a huge achievement for me as there never seems enough time to just sit a read.  :-).  Played lots of puzzle games on my phone, played real Patience with actual cards….have not done that in a while, watched tele, walked the dog around the property.  But the best part of the weekend was our trip to Cow Bay to walk along the beach (dog friendly).  On the way we were privileged enough to see a Cassowary and chick (not a tiny chick it was about 80cm high) walk across the road in front of us.  In all my life (and it's been a lot of years in the tropics) I have never seen a Cassowary in the wild, seen lots of signs saying they exist and recent sitings.  So I am one happy chappy.   No photos as they were gone before we knew it and I just wanted to take the moment in.

This was our view on Sunday morning…..very wet and a little windy, so we just had to stay home all day and do nothing other than relax, read, colour, drink eat and talk to each other.

More views Sunday morning….paw paws weren't quite ready for us.

We managed to walk around the yard a few times during the day between showers of rain.

Monday mornings view from the other kitchen window.  Still a little wet, we had our coffee, breakfast and headed back home.

We were front row on the ferry ride back across the Daintree river.

Now to plan our next adventure.

Craftmad Swap - Die Cuts

This swap was way back in August last year and we had to swap to cards using diets.  I used my leaf die to cut out these lovely leaves then added a page from a novel behind.  Machine stitched the black card to the pink card stock  to create the card front.  Finished with some glossy gems and a die cut Happy Birthday.

This was my first chance to use my bike die.  I filled the basked with punched paper flowers to which I added a hint of glitter.  Finished the basket with a charm and some string.  Pin pricked a design around the edge of the topper and attached to this lovely floral background paper.  Finished with this beautiful die cut Happy Birthday sentiment.

Thanks for dropping on by.

Happy 16th - Butterfly Sparkle

Time to get this card posted as it is almost this girls birthday again.  I made this in August last year for my friends daughter who turned 16.  I did some faux stitching around the edge.  The butterfly is a Kaiser Craft stamp which I stamped in black ink onto the card front, I then coloured it with my copic pens.  On top I attached another butterfly which I had stamped onto acetate.  Gave the butterfly a bling trail.  I really love the effect.

Craftmad Swap - Sentiment

This was a fun swap we did last year in Craftmad….we had to use a sentiment and make it the focal point of the card.  This did put me out of my comfort zone and delving very deep in my stash.  This first card I have used a beautiful pad of Kaiser Craft papers I was given which came with this wonderful sentiment.  I have teamed it with the collection of ribbons, wire, flower and pearls.  Really happy with the end result.

Digging again in my stash I found this terrific sticker that I have had for years.  I created a topper with it using my leaf, oval and labels, dies.  I attached a couple of bronze skeleton leaves I bought some time ago.  Adhered all this to the peach coloured paper which I had run through one of my new embossing folders.  One moment I like this card and the next I am not that keen….I think it is the colours as they are not ones I would normally use.

Hope your day has been a good one. :-)

Carftmad April Card Swap - Shaped Cards

Hi everyone, I have surprised myself and completed the April Craftmad Card Swap during April and managed to get them to the mailbox so that my partner can receive them during April.  Yay!  I did have fun creating these.  My partner and friend enjoys a cup of coffee so when I saw these shapes appearing in Pinterest I had to have a go. I found a template by Deonna here and I cut the shape from brown card stock attached the corrugated green card stock then created the cap which is attached to the inside of the card where the message can me written.  As I had my sewing machine out I decided to stitch all around the edges of the card.  I then stamped the card with one of the flourishes from my Stampin Up stamp set.  Finished with a Thank You sentiment and pink paper flower.

This is where you can add your Thank you message.

I just loved these chicken cards when I saw them and as my friend/partner is a country girl at heart I thought she would appreciate this shape as well.  An easy card to do, all the shapes were hand cut, I used Diane's template here.

Thanks for passing on by.

Starburst Flowers

Had to share another Sunburst card as you haven't seen one for me in a while. :-)

I have used more Stampin Up paper scraps, embossed and then machine stitched along the lines.  I finished with a computer generated birthday sentiment and all these wonderful paper flowers from my stash and leaves that I received from my secret santa.

Thanks for popping on by.

Wedding Card

A friend asked me to create a card for her godson's wedding.  I was inspired by a card I found in my Google search and sadly I did not keep the link to put on here.  If this is a card like yours please let me know.  I layered white on white, the top layer I added a square embossed border.  Then came the fun bit of punching out all these tiny flowers.  I then glued them to a heart shape piece of card stock, next I attached all the bling.  I added the silver ribbon and used a sticker sentiment with the silver glitter paper punched hearts.  I really love the end result. So much sparkle.  Although at the end I suddenly remembered it was her godSON's wedding and thought this may a bit too girly but thankfully she loved it.

Edit: attaching the flowers was not as fiddly or take as long as I thought.  I think attaching the the gems was trickiest, making sure they were in the centre.  Then a couple fell off when I first picked it up so had to re attach.

Just another angle.

Thanks for stopping by.

Nephew Card - Yoda - Star Wars

After scrolling through Google search I found a link that took me to Lassa's card which I copied for my nephews 6th birthday (last November).  I enjoyed this card so much I made one for my friend in December - post here.

Lassa has a list of dies she used on her card, I just used whatever dies I had in my stash that matched the shapes of her card.  His head is is a circle which I run through the lattice embossing folder, eyes are from a regular paper punch, ears are holly leaves, cape is a label die, hands and feet are stars and the sabre I created by cutting the corners on a rectangle piece of card stock I had cut.  I distressed all the edges with brown ink.  Cut some silver glitter stars, the 6 I cut from blue foil I have had in my stash forever.  Finished with a Happy Birthday sticker.

Just had to share this photo this photo which was taken at the local coffee shop last Saturday morning. (This is our halfway stop)  I walk with a couple of friends and their dogs then we met up with another lady and her dog at the shop. Aren't they all so good to sit there together.  Mine is the one thinking of food in a bowl. :-)

Have a wonderful day.

New Lounge Quilt - Greens, Yellows and Blues

I have finally finished a new quilt for our lounge so that the Christmas quilt can be packed away. :-)
These blocks were all part of a quilt block swap we did over at Craftmad during 2014.  Half of the blocks are ones I made doubles of when sending one off to my partner and the other half have been received from different partners.

My husband decided he was going to photobomb my shoot. :-)  I did warn him this was going on my blog.

But he just kept bombing.  :-)

and bombing. :-)

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Baby Shower and Baby Girl

This card I made for a wonderful friend that I met through Relay for Life.  Little Xavier is about four months old now and learning to crawl.  I created the bib with my circle dies finished with some cute heart buttons and cross grain ribbon.  I did a little faux stitching around the edge.  Finished with a white Congratulations sticker.

This card I made for my brothers new granddaughter.  He is a very proud Pops and I think everyone has to fight him for a nurse.  :-)  This little girl is now three months old and has the biggest blue eyes ever.

Hard to see in the photo as it was taken with my old camera but the paper I used for the background has 'of so sweet' written all over it. I added some lace, pink ribbon and two cute charms I have had in my stash for ages.

Thanks for stopping on by, have a wonderful day.

Craftmad April Sketch - Mother's Day

Morning everyone, this is the April card sketch for Craftmad.  If you would like to see everyone else's creations click here, or post one of your own in our Pinterest album.

I started with these lovely Kaisercraft papers for this sketch and this is the card emerged but it's not the sketch.  Still had fun creating it.

So my second attempt I thought I would make a Mother's Day card for my Mum…..getting organised for May. :-) Mum loves green and gardening so that is why I chose this double sided patterned paper. I layered up the papers then attached this lovely white paper daisy to which I added the crocheted daisy centre which I won ages ago. The blue card stock looked a little plain so I added glitter sticker lines - Sticker Store.  Finished with a computer generated sentiment.

I am a tad excited today as our daughter rang up on Tuesday saying she had just booked some cheap air tickets to be home today to Sunday.  We haven't seen her since January.  Best bit is we finally get to surprise my husband who seems to always be surprising us.  He has not a clue that I am picking her up this afternoon.  My daughter and I will fit in - a run in her case, fast walk in mine of the Red Arrow track before getting her home.

Wishing you a wonderful day too.

Joy's 50th - Slider Card

At our Craftmad annual get together last October one of the ladies showed us how to create these lovely slider cards.  I decided this was the perfect style for my friend Joy who was celebrating her 50th birthday at the time.  I started with blue patterned Stampin up paper with silver glitter card and a strip of bling.  50 deserves lots of bling.  I used a die to cut Joy's name out……so handy that her name is among the Christmas words I have. :-)

This view shows you all the hidden sections of the card which are revealed when the ribbon is pulled.  More layers of the same Stampin Up patterned paper set.

Thanks for popping in and checking out my card today.

Craftmad March Christmas Card Sketch

This is the March Christmas sketch for Craftmad.  See what everyone came up with here: -
https://au.pinterest.com/craft_m/2016-sketch-challenges/

These are my creations which I had a lot of fun with.  I decided that I would put some of my sticker collection in to use - all purchased from the Sticker Store. Next choice was the colour, I found this lovely cheery green and the lavender worked really well with it.  So I ran the bottom layer of green through one of my snowflake embossing folders.  Created the lavender banner with border stickers then attached a darker green card stock to the glitter bauble stickers and hand cut around them.  Found this perfect green and purple ribbon in my stash to attach to the baubles.

This wonderful patterned paper I have had for a while it has a pearlised shine to it.  I cut one of the blue stripes to create the banner across the centre and added the fun sticker border to the centre of it.  The gold Christmas tree sticker I have attached to red acetate.  I attached red card stock to the base of the tree so that I had somewhere to hide the foam squares that attached the tree to the card.

I found these red and gold candles in my collection, so I stuck with those colours.  I ran the gold background paper and the red label through one of my embossing folders.  I used to be so good and knew the names of all these folders….not anymore.  Finished with the Christmas tree sticker.

Another three Christmas cards brings my total to 10.  :-)

Have a wonderful Tuesday.  Gardening, coffee with friend, Bowen treatment and making a small quilt are on the agenda for me today.  The weather is so beautiful clear and a little cool at the moment….the won't last long.

Confirmation and Communion

The camera definitely captured the shine on this card.  I made this for my niece who did her Communion and Confirmation October last year.  Yep, another late post. :-)

I tried keeping the card simple, creating the cross with silver bling and layering that image up with black, gold and white card stock. The sentiment is computer generated.  Finished with the lovely gold striped ribbon.

Thanks for visiting.

40 Candles

I made this card for a friend at work who turned 40.  The front of the card I ran the green through the embossing machine and finished with sticker 'Happy 40th Birthday'

I made one of these cards for my SIL a couple of years ago when she turned 50 and just thought it was the right card for my friend.  So I cut forty strips of paper from my Stampin Up collection of papers.  I used theses papers as I knew they would all work well together.  I attached the strips then stamped the flame with a shape I had cut from foam.  I stamped first in a yellow colour and then added orange to some of the flames.

I layered up some white card to the rear of the card so I could add a verse etc.

Thanks for stopping by.

Craftmad March Sketch

This is the March sketch for Craftmad - you can find other peoples take on this sketch in our Pinterest album here.

A couple of lovely ladies have their birthdays in April, so I thought the sketch would help me on my way to creating cards for them.  Both love purple and I just had an urge to use orange with it.  I found these lovely patterned papers that I thought worked well together to create the background.  The flower is made up of a doily which I cut into sections and coloured orange with my copic pens, a fabric flower, paper patterned flower from a packet someone kindly gave me years ago and lastly the yellow flower is flower I crocheted many years ago.  All held together with a pearl split pin.  Finished the card with gold birthday stickers.

My second card I used the other halves of the patterned paper.  Coloured up this new Graphic 45 stamp I received at Christmas time.  I think the flowers are meant to be roses but I was thinking blackeyed susans when I coloured them.  Finished with a little purple bling in the corners.

Thanks for visiting today.

Hope no-one catches you with an April fools joke. :-)
